I decided to challenge myself after watching Jackie Droujko's YouTube video where she redraws film screenshots to practice her understanding of color. Color is one of my weaker areas as an artist and it was a rewarding challenge to see myself improve over just a few days and 6 drawings.
Overall, my biggest struggle seems to be color saturation, but perhaps that has more to do with my iPad brightness settings and less with my inability to accurately understand color--I know that technology can't be fully at blame but the contrast I see on my computer is vastly different from what I see on my iPad.
Regardless, I think this challenge forced me to study an image in a new way. I wasn't trying to recreate the scene perfectly but I did want to capture the shape, the color, and overall feeling. I think my strongest images are the final two: James Bond from Spectre and Casino Royale. By this point in the exercise, I was trusting my ability to choose what I was seeing and not what I thought I was seeing.
